random hymn

Crown Him the Lord of years,
The Potentate of time,
Creator of the rolling spheres,
Ineffably sublime!
All hail, Redeemer, hail!
For Thou hast died for me;
Thy praise shall never, never fail
Throughout eternity.

Now - I love 'Crown him with many crowns' but what the heck is a 'poetentate of time' and what does 'ineffably' mean?? And why do we sing stuff we don't understand? However, the second half of the verse is solid gold!

Geek Kath moment alert.
Potentate- Ruler over all. Extreme Ruler.
Rolling spheres- the world (the Lake District-Woo)
Ineffably sublime- indescribably indescribable.

WOOO!
who cares what it means, it sounds great!
(ahem, post modern in me coming out there)

Crown Him the Lord of years,
The Ruler most extreme,
Creator of, Woo! Everything! (though - Creator of the lake district - fits)
Big Big Big Big Big Big!
All hail, Redeemer, hail!
Jesus has died for me;
His praise shall never, never fail
Throughout eternity.
